RevID Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 October 2026

1. About RevID and who we are

RevID is a social app for car enthusiasts. It lets you create a profile, add your vehicles, search UK number plates, share posts and photos or videos, message other users individually or in groups, and follow builds you like. These terms cover the RevID mobile app (iOS and Android), the RevID web app at app.revid.uk, and our website at revid.uk (together, the “service”). The web app is the same product as the mobile app, and some pages can be browsed without an account. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

The service is operated by RevID Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16973478), registered office 42 Lord Street, Kearsley, Bolton, England, BL4 8BE. You can contact us at support@revid.uk. In these terms, “RevID”, “we” and “us” mean RevID Ltd.

2. Your account

You can sign in with your Apple account, your Google account, or an email address and password. If you use an email address and password, keep your password secret; we can email you a link to reset it. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us straight away at support@revid.uk if you think someone else has accessed it.

You must be at least 16 years old to use RevID. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and do not allow accounts for people under 16. You must give your real date of birth.

People aged 16 and 17 are children under UK law. We take extra care with their accounts and expect all users to do the same, and we may apply additional safeguards to those accounts. If you are 16 or 17, you should make sure a parent or carer is happy for you to use RevID.

You can delete your account at any time from within the app or web app (Settings), or at revid.uk/delete-account. Deleting your account removes your profile, vehicles, posts, messages and any drafts, except where there is a safety concern about the account, as described in section 10.

Some accounts join via an invite or ambassador code, or reserve a place as a Founding Driver before launch. These reservations are not guarantees of any particular username, plate, or feature and may be revoked for abuse of the system.

3. Your content and copyright

You own the content you post, including photos, videos, posts, comments, messages and vehicle details. By posting content, you give RevID a non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free licence to store, process, format and display it within the service so the service can work. This includes showing your content to other users through feeds, profiles, searches and sharing features. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except where copies must temporarily remain in backups or be kept for legal, safety or evidential purposes.

You must only upload content that you own or are legally allowed to use. This applies to everything within your content, including videos, photographs, music, sound recordings, background audio, artwork, logos and clips belonging to somebody else. Buying music, subscribing to a music service or being able to play a song does not necessarily give you permission to include it in a video posted on RevID.

When you upload a video containing audio, we may require you to confirm that you are allowed to use any music or other audio in that video. This confirmation is a statement made by you. It does not mean that RevID has checked, approved or licensed the audio. If you are unsure whether you have permission, you should remove the audio before posting.

We may mute, restrict or remove content if we reasonably believe it may infringe copyright or another intellectual property right, or if we receive a complaint about it. We may do this without prior notice while a complaint is reviewed. Accounts that repeatedly or seriously infringe the rights of others may be suspended or permanently terminated.

Copyright owners or their authorised representatives can report suspected infringement using the Copyright infringement option in the app or by contacting support@revid.uk. Reports should identify the protected work, the content being reported, where it appears on RevID and why its use is believed to be unauthorised. We may request evidence of ownership or authority and may share relevant details of the complaint with the user who uploaded the content so they can respond.

You are responsible for the content you upload and for the accuracy of any copyright confirmations you make. To the extent permitted by law, if your deliberate or negligent breach of this section directly causes RevID to face a third-party claim, loss or reasonable legal cost, you will be responsible for the resulting loss to the extent that it was caused by your breach.

Only add vehicles and plates you own or have permission to represent. Vehicle verification and ownership-dispute handling exist to keep ownership claims honest.

A plate lookup on RevID, whether through typed search or camera scan, may show MOT and vehicle-history data sourced from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s official trade data service. This data belongs to DVSA or DVLA, not to RevID or any individual user. Details of a plate that no RevID member has claimed are shown to signed-in users only; logged-out visitors are asked to sign in. We never show keeper names or addresses.

4. GIFs, stickers and Share-to-find

GIFs. The GIF picker is powered by GIPHY. GIFs are third-party content that RevID does not create or control, and GIPHY’s own terms and privacy policy apply to your use of it. The rules in section 8 apply to GIFs you send.

Stickers. If you upload your own stickers, they are your content: sections 3 and 8 apply to them in the same way as to photos, and you must have the right to use everything in them.

Share-to-find. Share-to-find lets you share a link or screenshot (for example from TikTok) into the mobile app so it can help you find a car shown in it. You must only use it on content you have the right to view and use. You are responsible for any third-party content you feed into it, and you must not use it to identify, follow or locate a person.

5. Vehicle verification recordings

To verify that you have access to a vehicle, RevID may ask you to record a short video (for example, of you reading a code shown in the app, the dashboard and the number plate). The recording includes your voice and is reviewed by RevID staff only to decide your verification request. It is never displayed on your public profile. Verification videos are deleted automatically 7 days after upload, unless your account is under a safety hold or there is an open report, in which case they may be kept for the investigation for no longer than described in section 10. If a request has not been reviewed by then it expires and you will be asked to record again. Photos you submit as evidence in an ownership dispute are kept until the case closes and are deleted with your account.

6. Emails from us

We send service emails when you need them, such as password resets and the status of a vehicle verification request. We only send marketing emails if you opt in, which is off by default. You can withdraw that consent at any time in Settings → Notifications.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use RevID to stalk, harass, or track people, to scrape data, to send spam, or to break any law. Plate search exists so enthusiasts can connect over cars, not to identify or pursue people.

8. Keeping RevID safe: moderation, reporting and complaints

RevID has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. This includes harassment, hate speech, threats, sexual content, spam, impersonation and illegal content in posts, comments, GIFs, stickers and direct or group messages, and content that sexualises or endangers children. Copyright infringement is handled under section 3. The measures below are how we protect users from illegal and harmful content.

Automated screening. We use OpenAI’s moderation service to automatically screen post captions and overlay text, comment text, post images, the cover frame and five frames extracted from each video, and stickers you upload (as images). Screening happens shortly after you post. We do not automatically screen audio, direct or group messages, avatars, bios, usernames, vehicle photos or notes, or GIFs. Direct messages are only reviewed if someone reports them. All of this content can still be reported and acted on.

Automated decisions and human review. A post that the automated screening flags is hidden from feeds automatically while a person reviews it. People can restore or remove it. Reports are reviewed by people.

Report and block. You can report any post, comment, message, profile or user directly in the app or web app, including a dedicated “Child safety concern” category, and block users at any time. You can also email support@revid.uk.

Complaints and appeals. If you think we removed content, hid a post or restricted your account by mistake, or you want to complain about how we handled a report, email support@revid.uk. A person will review it and reply.

We may remove any content and, where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, restrict or end any account, as set out in section 9. See also our Child Safety Standards.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate an account, or remove content, if you breach these terms, if the law requires us to, or to protect other users. Where it is reasonable and safe to do so we will tell you why and give you notice first. We may act immediately and without notice for serious breaches, for example illegal content, threats, child safety violations or repeated copyright infringement.

If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal by emailing support@revid.uk. A person will review your appeal and tell you the outcome. You can also stop using RevID and delete your account at any time.

10. Account deletion, safety holds and retention

When you delete your account, we remove your profile, vehicles, posts, messages, drafts and uploaded files straight away. The exception is an account with a safety concern: an open or upheld report, a strike or ban, a copyright strike, a child-safety report, or a safety hold placed by RevID. Dismissed reports alone do not stop deletion.

Such an account is closed and hidden from everyone. We keep a minimal record (your username, email address and strike information) and the relevant content as evidence for up to 12 months, and then permanently delete it. We keep it longer only if law enforcement asks us to under a legal hold. The Privacy Policy has the full list of what we keep and for how long.

11. The service and our liability

RevID is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may change or discontinue features. We are not responsible for user-generated content, for third-party data or content shown alongside it (such as DVSA vehicle data or GIPHY GIFs), or for interactions between users, though we moderate as described above.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses, and our total liability to you for anything else arising from the service is limited to the amount you have paid us for it (which is nothing where the service is free).

12. Changes to these terms

If we make significant changes, we will notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use RevID after changes means you accept them. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.

13. Privacy

See our Privacy Policy for what data we collect (including account-linked app diagnostics, optional product analytics and masked session replay, voluntary feedback, and website and web app analytics that load only after you consent), how it’s used, how long we keep it, and your UK GDPR rights.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in the courts there, and nothing here removes any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of the part of the UK where you live.
